How is it described?
The house is described as a small and crowded apartment and it houses five people. This apartment has a very small and cramped kitchen woth only one window throughout the whole house. It is also very cluttered because the are so many people living there and no where to put anything.
What do we learn from the description?
From this description we learn that the Youngers are poor and do not have a lot of money. We also learn that all of mama's children still live at home.

How is it described?
We learn that the there is one worn out couch with crocheted doilies. The carpet is worn out and there are wholes underneath the table because they are trying to cover them up. The carpet is said to bring a "depressing uniformity" to the house. The last thing we find out is that the is a old table with one or two chairs.
What do we learn from the description?
From this description we learn the same as we did with the description of the house which is that the Youngers do not have a lot of money. This is shown through all of the beat up and worn out furniture.
